To Valley Shores Residents:

Over the July 4, holiday, your Board has tried to find some middle ground by normalizing limited boating use. However, after we review the condition of the beaches today along with our neighbors personal property, we have come to the conclusion that the results are quite alarming.

With just 6 hours of opening up normal boating to the lake at reduced speeds, many beaches have experienced sever beach erosion. There are currently 2 homes with seawalls in jeopardy of possibly losing their seawall if we continue with normal boating use. Furthermore, we have been made aware that one of our neighbors docks has come apart due to the waves created by normal boating activity today. Needless to say, these events have caused us to relook at removing the “NO WAKE” rule for this weekend.

Another factor in causing us to revisit our latest change to the “NO WAKE” rule is, we had a handful of boaters who failed to observe the 25mph speed limit. We were able to monitor speeds as we have a radar gun for this very purpose.

Taking everything into consideration, especially the deteriorating beaches, the Board has decided to cancel the opening of the lake to normal use at lower speeds and reimplementating  the “NO WAKE” rule until further notice. Preservation of property and the safety of our boaters on the lake is paramount to the Board.

We apologize for the confusion to our lake home owners, but we feel it is never too late to do the right thing.

Respectfully,

Your Valley Shores Board
