We received a message from Nebraska Lake Management concerning Blue-Green Algae Blooms. The Blue-Green algae blooms can release toxins, but they don’t always, and there is no way to predict whether a bloom will release toxins or not. Additionally you can test a bloom and have no toxins today and test it again tomorrow and have toxins. Therefore they suggest to assume toxins are present when you see these blooms and avoid primary contact with the water (swimming) and keep pets away ( no drinking) around these blooms.
